There was a river that ran through the upper part of the town where I grew up.  It meandered through an old public park creating a swamp-like area that was nothing short of utopian to a nine-year-old.  The tall grass hid the small pools of tadpoles and crawfish, and the giant trees created a dark overhang that seemed to make everything more mysterious. 

Yet, there was a plant that took precedence over all others – the cattail.  With its tall stalk and furry top, the cattail was the most entertaining of plants.  You could swordfight with their stalks or make a confetti mess as you tore apart its top.  While I remember the love I had for them as a child, I didn’t really think of the cattail as something I would like graphically.

We have fallen in love with the work of Molly M Design because she finds the unexpected beauty in nature and creates simple, but striking pieces of jewelry with it.  These cattail designs are a bold graphic, but the warm hue of the bamboo keeps the earrings from being too ostentatious.
