The golden grass used in Nugaard’s CAMPO collection is a unique type of grass, which grows in the northwest of Brazil, and can only be picked once a year.  The grass is one of the main sources of income for the local communities in area, where weaving techniques used to create decorative ornaments have been passed from generation to generation. 

The extraction of the grass is done in a manner not to harm the environment, and the activity is closely monitored by Brazilian environmental agencies.  The golden grass shapes used in the designs are exclusively hand woven for Nugaard Designs by local artisans in Brazil, and imported to the US, where all the jewelry is produced in Miami, Florida.
