It's Time To Cook A Good Egg
July 15th, 2007ON SALE! $34.95 reg. $52! I really REALLY love to cook. But my passion stops squarely at deserts (pastries frighten me), and I don’t fry eggs.
Ok, ok, fine. I can’t fry eggs. Happy??? Nor can I boil them. I can make a good scramble, but, that’s only because the whole premise of a scramble is that its chaotic and messed up from the beginning.
I know I need to address my fears. There are certain members of the family who happen to love chocolate soufflés, and we all love anything with custard. Plus there is something sort of worldly and chic about making yourself an egg for breakfast and sitting down with a fantastic cup of coffee to eat it up.
So, in the spirit of personal growth, we bring you this lovely Egg Set…an ingenious hourglass timer for a perfectly boiled egg is also a gorgeous eggcup. (We just love form + function). And – a gorgeous cookbook dedicated to nothing but eggs. And the pursuit of perfect egg dishes. When I want to tackle a culinary feat, nothing gets me motivated like a good cookbook – and EGGS by Michael Roux is just the best.
So, if necessary, let me be your humble inspiration to tackle the delectable egg, and let these two fabulously designed and insanely useful tools arm you in your quest for your next culinary achievement
About EGGS by Michael Roux:
The egg is the simplest and most complete food, highly nutritious and versatile enough for the quickest of meals or the smartest of dinner parties. It’s also a favorite of pâtissiers and dessert chefs. Michael Roux–for many years a chef at the top of his profession and a global traveler with a passion for different cuisines–is the ideal author to take a new look at one of the oldest foods of all.
Each chapter is based around a style of cooking eggs, from boiling, frying, poaching, baking and scrambling, to making the perfect omelet, crêpe, soufflé, meringue and custard. Classic recipes such as Hollandaise Sauce, Eggs Benedict and Lemon Soufflé are given a modern twist, while Michel’s original recipes boast new combinations of flavors or a lighter, simpler style of cooking. Illustrated with 150 stunning photographs and designed in a clear, modern, easy-to-follow style, Eggs is set to become a classic.
