Let them have the cake, I'll take the tea
September 7th, 2007I used to go to a fancy teahouse once a month with friends just so that I could indulge on tiny cute cakes and finger sandwiches, but most of all on truly good tea. I’m not talking about any of that stuff you buy in the supermarket or find at the bottom of a questionable gift basket – just the good stuff. Whether I was in the mood for something soft or something crisp with a kick, the teahouse was always a fun way to get away for an hour or two.
Unfortunately, I’ve moved to a place that doesn’t have any teahouses (not that I’d have any time to go), so I’ve been on a search to find the best way to indulge my predilection for tea at home, whenever I have a moment to myself. This search was heightened after a screening of Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, namely a scene where Kristen Dunst is given an amazing blossom of tea that seems to explode into a flower in her all-too-beautiful china.
