Who are we kidding?  Wedding showers, while operating under the guise of a celebration, tend to be a rather tedious way for a group of friends and relatives to spend an afternoon.  First, there is the strange, at times forced themes (i.e. A Morning in Paris, Molly Actually Get a Man!!, ugh), that find their way into the finger food and decorations. 

Tables full of once frozen mini-quiches, mimosas heavy on the cheap champagne do nothing to satiate one’s hunger, and plastic Eiffel Towers hanging from blue and red streamers do not make the event more ‘chic’ - they only serve to remind you that you’re not in Paris and, more importantly, that you’re not at home in bed reading the paper.

Now while it is probably obvious at this point that we aren’t always excited to attend the shower, we do always like finding a good gift for our soon to be wed girl friend.  This paperweight may just be a trinket, but it is darn good for a laugh when all the talk is about karats and clarity!  And it will do your desk a world of good, providing a bright spot in the doldrums of your crowded, sad workspace.
