Cooking Makes Me Happy Like A Bird
May 2nd, 2007
ON SALE! $19.95 reg. $32
There are many moments in time that are fleeting…the day you sat with your daughter in the park as cherry blossom petals rained down on you in a pink flurry…the time you watched your husband get in his car and smiled at how handsome he really is…the day you realized what you wanted to be when you grew up. Despite our efforts to capture everything on film, life has a way of surprising you when you’re not exactly camera ready. For me, days and years cooking in the kitchen with my mom and sister are moments I can only remember. My mom - a great cook to be sure - brought us up to appreciate the art of creating good food. Now, as adults, when the three of us are together – watch out because the sparks do fly! The thing that struck me first about this Bird Measuring Spoon Set was its unabashed nostalgia. The happy (and let’s face it) adorable birds perched upon big, heavy, sturdy spoons seems to sum up what everyone loves most about the kitchen…The cheerful comfort it always brings, and the flighty joy you feel when a good meal is about to be served. This spoon set sums up years and years of pies, and pot roasts, and steaming bowls of spaghetti, and cupcakes and puddings.
As a gift, what could be better? I love the idea of bringing in my own family heirloom. A piece that represents what I’ve learned from my Mom and sister, and what I can’t wait to pass on to my own children…that being in the kitchen can make you happy as a bird. The deets: - Hand cast in lead-free pewter; copper display rack included. - Includes, Tablespoon, Teaspoon, ½ teaspoon and ¼ teaspoon. - Handmade in the USA, using traditional metal-smithing techniques and individually cast parts. - Adorably packaged in a kraft gift box - Destined to be handed down for generations. Just like your grandmother’s best recipes.

I was the lucky winner of this set of spoons way back before the official launch of delight.com.
I know I promised to write back with a testimonial about my prize but I am in the process of moving and I just kept putting it off… sorry!
I saw these on your email blast and knew I had to share my thoughts on these.
These are a real treasure! Wonderfully made and so unique, I regard them more decorative than a kitchen utencil because they are just adorable. Also, they are quite hefty so they can certainly take a beating if you choose to use them.
I’m definately putting these up in my kitchen, gives it a nice organic touch since they look home-made.
And if it makes a difference, it’s actually a little cheaper on this website.

Very pretty measuring spoons, but I have to agree with many other - rather pricey.
