March 12th, 2007

We feel like celebrating! Yes, it’s true – if you’re reading this, then you’re viewing the very first item up for sale on the brand new Delight.com.

As we launch our exciting one deal a day online shop, we felt it was only fitting to start off with these adorable bird pewter candle holders by our friends at Beehive Kitchenware. The cupcakes are not for sale. We gobbled those up before 10am. Sorry.

What is Delight.com you ask? We’ve cut through the retail clutter, and bring you a tightly edited array of products we feel are just delightful. Each day at noon central we will be featuring for sale one item. Today, it’s a set of 6 birdie pewter candle holders, which look absolutely amazing on cupcakes, cakes, pies or just about anything. You can vote on each daily featured item, add your comments to the conversation or of course, buy it. So chime in!

But hurry! We’re not kidding when we say “edited selection.” We’ve been scouring the world for months to find fabulous products for you; and we’ve only bought them in limited quantities so we can move on to the next great thing.
If today’s spotlighted item doesn’t hit the spot, be sure to check back tomorrow. Every day brings something new!

I saw these in Real Simple and wanted to buy them so now I will. They are too, too cute (and I love the cupcakes!)

  2. crazydave

I HAVE to have these. I love birds and pancakes also.

Thank you for making my day!!

  3. Gail

aren’t these a bit heavy for cupcakes? Just my 2cents. I do really like their look but wanted to be sure they wouldn’t tip over. I know I can get a bit obsessive on these things but…

  4. Tracey

That’s a really great question. You’d think since they’re made from pewter they’d be heavy, but we baked up a batch of cupcakes for the shoot, and the little birdies nestle in the cupcakes perfectly. They’re actually quite light…delicately made, so they’re thin rather than heavy. You won’t be disappointed!

  5. Katie

did someone say pancakes? birthday pancakes. sounds yummy

  6. Alyson Wilson

Our family’s birthday celebration tradition was presenting the birthday kid’s dinner on a red plate. It’s more festive than it sounds! The plate really packed a punch: high-gloss red with white script reading, “You are special today,” around the edge.

I suppose why this story came to mind relates to the fact that, to me, these pewter candle holders posess that same potential for inspiring nostalgic feelings when looking back. They’re the the sort of object whose appearance delights all in attendance - sure to be adored, shared and gifted to other members of a family.

I agree with Alyson. I think these could almost be a heirloom with our family. We’d bring them out for each kid’s birthday party.

omg - my mouth is watering, and I’m so excited the new delight is here!! great job guys!!!

  9. Lynne

LOVE them!!!! Can’t wait for my own set to be delivered! If this is any indication of what’s to come in the future, I’ll be spending all my money on Delight.com!!!!

  10. Lynda

Thanks, Lynne! We will make you VIP shopper number one!

  11. Kim

I’m such a stickler for presentation when I cook and little, fun pieces like this make my day. Anything that will add a bit of whimsy and shine to the top of a my cake sounds great to me (and maybe cover up for any of its failings…haha)!

  12. Kerrin

These are way too cute. I think they will make everyone forget that my cake was store bought from Trader’s Joe.

  13. Wendy

you buy your cakes at TJ’s? Me too. I’m crazy about that shop. When I found that my apartment was a block from Trader’s Joes I was so happy. anyway, these are super cute.

  14. Kim

All this Trader Joe’s talk brings tears to my eyes…oh, why can’t my city get just one TJ? I’ll have to take solace in making my homemade cakes a little bit prettier with these holders.

  15. Carole

Ah Trader Joes is my new obsession now that it has opened in New York. I thought it was everywhere? When I visit my folks in Phoenix I’ve seen it. I feel for you if you don’t have one. Cheap and good. Especially their vitamins.

  16. Kim

Denver has many things, but a Trader Joe’s it does not…we’re left to dream of dry roasted almonds, truffles, and bizarre fruit flavored German beer at ridiculously good prices.

  17. Tracey

And remember the Framboise beer they had at Trader Joes? Yummy. (Kim and I have both recently moved back to Denver…the Merchandising HQ of Delight.com). And I miss the frozen spanikopita, their organic orange juice, and the aioli mustard. sniff sniff.

  18. Cat

TJ’s!!! my favorite. I just had their lettuce cup mix, it wasn’t as good as my favorite chinese place but not bad. Anyway, I like these candle holders. very cute!

  19. Liz from Cool Mom Picks

Indeed I did click right on through -wonderful first item for sale. Congrats!
