One of the great things about living in Denver, as opposed to the coasts, is that you can always find great, untapped antique and thrift stores within a 
short drive that have anything and everything you could imagine. One of my regional favorites is a spot in Sterling, Colorado that besides having an incredible selection of linens may also have every single set of kitschy salt and pepper shakers ever made. Row after row of ceramic fruit, miniature monuments, and the ever popular strange renditions of famous couples - in an instant it becomes apparent why collecting them can become addicting.
Yet, the greatness of all those years of salt and pepper shakers only seems to highlight the fact that the art of the shaker seems to have been lost in modern dishware. Not so – Stiles in Clay, a couple from Los Angeles that make beautiful pit-fired ceramics have brought back not only the art of shaker, but the sense of humor that make it all the more interesting.
