Oh, Mother: Whale Butter Dish

Mother Day’s gifting mostly consists of trying not to mess up too badly…you know, so you don’t get the dreaded, “Oh, this is nice…,” (insert crickets chirping) and the flat smile that accompanies it. Although, we did manage to find this simply gorgeous culinary accessory that is pretty perfect for any of those moms out there that love a little time in the kitchen 
or a well set table! Jonathan Alder continues to astound with his simple, yet clever takes on pottery classics. Anyone who has a grandmother has probably come in contact with a variety of odd and at times frightening butter dishes – mine had one that was a dog laying down that in my opinion was frighteningly life like.
But this piece is a whole other story, Adler might have stolen the sweeping lines of a whale, but he brings it all together with a few nods to Mid-Century Modern design to create a piece that will be both useful and coveted. Butter is probably one of my favorite foods in the world. Salty, creamy, churned and fresh I like it all ways. This Jonathan Adler Whale Butter Dish would make the perfect home for my dear sweet butter.

I heart Jonathan Adler stuff so much! This butter dish would be adorable in my 50’s inspired kitchen. Sadly, the only JA items I own at the moment is an adorable green&blue striped food and water bowl set for my cat (talk about spoiled!) I think it’s time to add something the humans can use! Thanks delight!

Brings me back to the purses with the wooden handles and the reversable covers, catholic school uniforms, and Hello Kitty. I don’t know if that is good- puberty is not pretty.
