Beauty, Love, and Jewelry
September 28th, 2008
What is it about jewelry, or what is it about ourselves that keeps us so fascinated with jewelry? Is it our innate attraction to shiny objects? The need to adorn? Or is it something greater?
I ask, because I feel it with this ring. It makes me…happy, and excited, and intrigued. For me, I think I’m attracted to the craftsmanship of jewelry. I love the idea that these never-ending “mobius” bands of silver and gold were forged by delicate fingers, with an exquisite sensibility. It makes me feel nostalgic, because I can relate to this piece of jewelry in weird way. Inside this ring – for me anyway – there is a relation to things I hold dear: love, constancy, and beauty. All banded together in a gorgeous shimmering talisman.
And as far as craftsmanship is concerned, you can’t get much better than jewelry designer Marjorie Victor. We’re thrilled to have discovered her work in New York, and can’t think of a better debut than with her Mobius Ring.
As a gift, as a thank you, as a special treat for your self, Marjorie’s ring is a priceless piece of jewelry for a very special lady.
About Marjorie Victor:
After graduating from Barnard College with a degree in art history and painting, Marjorie Victor continued to create jewelry for family and friends while freelancing in the design and fashion industries, most notably as assistant to industrial designer Eva Zeisel. When she decided to pursue jewelry design professionally, Marjorie moved to Philadelphia to learn the craft of metal-smithing working as a jeweler’s apprentice. She further honed her skills studying fashion design and sculpture while on fellowship in Paris and later in Mexico where she studied jewelry design and fabrication. Marjorie officially launched her collection to the public in 2003.
Her organic designs quickly caught the eyes of stylists and buyers alike and have since been featured in numerous specialty stores throughout the United States and Japan including Anthropologie, Henri Bendel, Fred Segal and Tomorrowland in Tokyo. Her work has also appeared on the pages of several publications including The Sundance Catalog, Elle Magazine, and Lucky Magazine.
Currently Marjorie Victor both designs and handcrafts her jewelry in her Brooklyn, NY studio. The kaleidoscope of fashion and art in the vibrant city she calls home provides endless inspiration for continuing design innovation.

Too bad there isn’t a more masculine form for this ring… my mathematician bf would love it.

I’m disappointed in the fact that it’s not a really a “mobius” when you draw a line around you get “both” sides without lifting the pen, this doesn’t happen with these rings. For us Mathematicians this is really important.

Are you going to get more of these rings in before the holidays ~ even if it is at the regular price?

I got both my rings today and they are beautiful. You can stack them or wear them together. I’m glad I got both. These rings are going to get so much use.

Am I the only person who needs a larger size? And why not 14K?

I really love this ring!! I wear it everyday and it never gets caught on anything. Also, I thought eventually it would lose its shine. After five months of having it, it still looks shiny and new.

It’s a lovely ring.
I’m curious why it’s called a “Mobius” ring, when it’s really not a Mobius strip.
I am still considering buying it, but it’s disappointing that the ring is so incorrectly named. I agree with Kelly, it’s important to have this fact correct.

Ladies you know that this is a beautiful piece of jewelry and not a math equation right? Lets leave the math terminology at work ok.
I bought this ring and love it!

Hi all,
So glad to see how many of you enjoy this ring!
As the designer, maker and “namer” of this piece, I just wanted to explain why I called it the “mobius” ring. I love and have always been intrigued with the mobius strip. But I think a ring that was literally a mobius strip would be uncomfortable, that sharp part would cut into your finger…In all of my jewelry I consider comfort essential.
I’m a designer, not a mathematician and this piece is my artistic interpretation of a concept, I named it accordingly to give you a hint at what inspired me. It was never meant to mislead or to be a literal representation.
Hope this helps explain and thanks for all your support!
