Here’s To Julia & Jacques
September 12th, 2007
I sort of shamelessly wish I were somehow related to Julia Child. Or Jacques Pepin…I’d take either, actually…(you know, because they were like the coolest BFFs ever) including being thier thrown away, illegitimate child conceived on one sordid night of food, chocolate, Sherry and wild love-making. But I digress.
Until then, I embark on a constant pursuit of gourmet kitchen gadgets which enable me to potter about the kitchen, mumbling to myself in an odd French accent, and envisioning glorious culinary achievements from my efforts.
Which is why a good spice grinder is key. Even if you aren’t keen on opening up whole Cardamom pods and grinding up the seeds, there is a bevy of delicious salts & peppers out there that make anything taste so so so much better when freshly ground and aptly applied.
80% of flavor is really aroma. To get the most aroma from spices and seeds, it is best to grind them fresh. This Vase Grinder is equipped with the original CrushGrind ceramic mechanism that’s sharper and stronger than steel. The result?
- adjustment wheel moves easily from extremely fine to coarse
- grinding device sits on top, leaving no telltale dust behind
- vase shape allows you to grind without changing your grip
- no central spindle, allowing lots of room for larger ingredients
- grinds salt & pepper, rosemary, chilies, allspice, saffron, coriander, cardamom, flax & sesame seeds
- even grinds coffee!
And of course, Julia is that much closer to your heart. If even only for the first course.

my sister has one of these and she swears by it. It seems a tad pricey but she said it’s worth EVERY penny

Really? I’ve been debating and have searched a bit and this is the best price by far. Ok…I’ll take the plunge. I bought the cutting boards here last week and the week before I got the eco produce bags.

Would these grinders work for soft foods?
