Everyone Wants To Hug It Out
May 24th, 2007
Sure, we’re more connected now than ever in this cyber age. We email, we text, we photoshare and we web chat. But what ever happened to the human touch?
Remember that oafy guy in that commercial who went around hugging everyone? Admit it – you got a little misty eyed when you watched, and I bet you would have loved a big ole’ bear hug from Mr. Friendly.
These days, we’re more likely to share iTunes than a handshake, and dearies, that’s just sad.
So let’s recapture the love and share something a bit more personal than a cold plastic gift card. Give your pals this adorable pair of Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers designed by the very happy, very loveable Alberto Mantilla from the design firm MINT.
We see this cute ceramic pair of pals embracing, with cute little open holes in their heads, and I tell ya – we just want to go out and buy the world a Coke. They’re sort of like those BFF necklaces, only – you can season your food with them.
In our humble opinion, we say buy the pairs in pairs. One pair of Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers for your BFF, far away sister, bestest couple friends or Mom and Dad…and one pair for you. Or buy four sets for all your college buddies who you see once a year in Santa Fe. That way, when you pepper your salad you can always think about the ones you love, or maybe even love the one you’re with.
Because there just isn’t anyone who doesn’t love a hug.

Ohhh Super Cute - but I never really get to buy salt/pepper shaker sets because I like to just use my pepper grinder.

Olivia - I’m obsessed with my grinder too - but I always love to set a proper table with a salt and pepper shaker. PLUS, these guys are super cute to use just as design objects…I love how they are featured here on Notcot:

The Notcot.com idea is amazing. I love the idea of putting these shakers on different bookshelves looking at each other longingly… it definitely adds character to the shelves.

I love these guys! I have a pair of red and white ones i got on Ebay for 6 bucks last summer for the apt my boyfriend and I moved in together and think they’re adorable. I haven’t seen them any cheaper than 25$ anywhere else, so I guess I’m really lucky to have found them!
