Wow, this looks so neat! I’d love to hit Starbucks every morning with this in tow. Any idea how many ounces it holds? Thanks!

Is it Microwave Safe?
July 28th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Marin - yes, it is microwave and dishwasher safe. Also, the silicone lid and stopper can withstand temperatures up to 230 degrees C.

I have one that I got in Canada and love, love it. I bring it to Peets and they give me a discount on the coffee. How cool is that?
July 28th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I would like to see a better picture of the lid. What does it look like? Does it have an opening that can be manually closed?
July 28th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
why would this cost 20 dollars?
July 28th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
floridagal -
the silicon lid mimics exactly any standard plastic lid you’d get on your coffee to go in any major coffee shop - there is an opening to sip, just like at Starbucks, Petes or Coffee Bean - and no manual closure. The silicon wraps tightly around the ceramic cup to keep it sealed.
July 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I think you have to think about this as like a special coffee mug which I’ve seen for 15-50 dollars at some shops. So, $20 doesn’t seem outrageous especially if you can get a discount from the coffee shops
July 29th, 2008 at 4:31 am
This doesn’t say how much it holds, which any serious coffee drinker would want to know. Also, does anyone have experience with this item? It’s porcelain - I think I’d break it in a day.

How do I get on the waiting list? The link is not working.
July 29th, 2008 at 10:57 am
Ditto to Deborah - the wait list link isn’t working.
Based on the diameter & height mentioned, it’s roughly 56 cubic inches/31 oz. Which is about right considering a Starbucks Venti is about 20 oz.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Does anybody know if the 3.5 inch diameter is the top or the bottom? I need to know if two will fit in my car’s cup holders so I need an accurate measurement… two pop cans fit but they’re only 2.5 inches (roughly) in diameter.
September 5th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Diane -
The bottom of the cup is about 2 1/4 inches…just a hair shy of 2 1/2.
Hope this helps!

dear Admin:
can you verify how many ounces it holds? The info in the ad above says “perfect for Grande size drink.” Grande is 16 oz at Starbucks - However, Cindy, in her note above, mentions the dimensions match the Venti - 20oz Starbucks size.
Thanks.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Suzanne,
The cup actually holds 12oz.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Awesome - except for one minor missing detail. How do you hold it if the liquid is extremely hot? They should make a silicon slipcover that looks just like the cardboard ones you’ll get at the coffee shop.
September 17th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I love it but it only holds 8 oz. of coffee and some liquid creamer.
October 16th, 2008 at 7:48 am
I feel, even if it’s porcelain, it’s TOO expensive and ONLY HOLDS 12 oZ. No wonder Admin. didn’t answer question right away. Is there a bigger one for the SAME PRICE? Way too pricey!!!
October 16th, 2008 at 9:04 am
Beth,
I’ve found 12oz has been MORE than enough, and has cured me of my Venti latte habit - thank gawd. Plus I love, LOVE getting .10 my order at Starbucks!!!
Olivia, the cup is double-walled, and I haven’t had a problem with it being too hot. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, but a sleeve from a coffee shop fits perfectly, and you could keep one in your purse, just in case.

This cup is awesome. Not only is it environmentally conscious but I love how it almost feels like your holding a paper cup (except a little heavier!). The matte porcelain finish really feels papery. I love the cheeky gesture of it all in the name of being green. I think the 12 oz. is sufficient. It keeps my coffee intake regulated. I think less is more in this case.
The only minor downside for me was in the beginning when I started using this cup. The silicon lid smelled awful (strong plastic smell) when I used it for the first 5-6 times. Every sip of coffee was accompanied by that smell but with each washing, the smell fades more and more.
October 29th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
I measured the capacity and it’s a hair over 9 oz. My barista charges me for a short when I have it filled. The cup is warm when it’s filled with a hot beverage. The closer to the top of the cup, the warmer it is. I have used my own-made cup cozy with it. I am a bit disappointed by the size. I was expecting at least a 16 oz cup.
It looks so much like a paper cup, that my husband threw it away 15 minutes after I got it in the mail. After I yelled at him for not being able to tell the difference between ceramic and paper, he dug it out of the garbage and washed it, commenting ‘I can’t belive i thought this was a paper cup.’ It’s way heavier than paper.
I do like the style. It is expensive for 8 oz, however, I think that I am not using paper and that sorta makes up for the difference.
November 14th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
I am absolutely loving this new “mug.” I love the feel of the cup that looks almost like paper! The silicon lid is air tight indeed, because it doesn’t spill on the edges except for the sippy hole on the lid. I would’ve loved it more if there is a tiny cover on top of the sippy hole because it’ll be possible for me to carry it in my bag. One big difference between your regular paper cup and this, is that, this ceramic cup is much much heavier.
November 15th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
I simple find this for my husband, he loves to drink a lot of hot tea and he’d love this.
November 17th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
I got this last week and love it! The only downside is that the feel of ceramic kind of gives me the chills-like nails on a chalkboard. I wish it was made of something else but I’m getting used to it.
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Love this cup! It’s a good size (about 8oz) and perfect for the morning jolt. Great way to get my caffeine and stay green!
December 5th, 2008 at 6:06 am
How easy is it to break?
December 9th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
i just got this from delight and i love it! it’s adorable and is definitely a conversation-starter.
one issue i’m having–and i’m wondering if others can help–is that my silicon lid does *not* seem to fit very tightly. in fact, on my first time using it, the coffee dripped all over my hand and down the side of the cup. anyone have any tips on this? anything i can do to make it fit so that it doesn’t spill all over the place?
December 9th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
p.s. i love that this is ceramic–does not distort the taste of the coffee at all and has a lovely feel to it.
p.p.s. i have found that even with *super* hot coffee it does not get too hot on the outside, so there’s no need to worry about a coffee jacket for it. but, like delight suggested, you could always just keep one around if you tend to need one. i have a high tolerance for holding hot things.
January 6th, 2009 at 7:38 am
I was disappointed when I got my cup. It advertises it holds 12 oz but in reality it only holds 10 oz and that is about overflowing. The other thing I don’t like is that it is so heavy!! It needs a handle at this weight. It also doesn’t keep the drink hot for very long. All in all, I wouldn’t buy it or recommend it to anyone.
January 6th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I bought it for fun and when it arrived, I thought wow, the cup is actually quite huge! I was originally going to give it to my hubby cuz he drinks a lot of coffee but not sure cuz of the possible weight of it when full of liquid. But it’s pretty cool and a step towards decreasing paper cup use. If only it was in a slightly more reasonable size. =)
January 8th, 2009 at 10:26 am
I agree that the capacity seems small. Also, don’t expect the lid to be super-snug. However, I love the fact that I can pour in coffee from the fridge (I brew a big pot and then drink it over the course of a week) and microwave in this cup, snap on the lid and walk out the door, then put in the dishwasher when I get home. Definitely can’t do that with plastic or metal insulated tumblers.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:50 am
This would be cute if it had a design or even if it simply said “I am not a paper cup” on it. It’s too plain.
January 8th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
This cup is fantastic - I received it for Christmas along with some RuMe Bags and I’ve started to use both daily. It’s top quality and very insulated. I don’t agree with Susan - I have recommended it to everybody.
January 8th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
I have the same problem as lauren. This cup is really messy, and I end up with coffee dripping down the sides and getting all over the place. It’s cute in theory but I probably wouldn’t purchase it again.
January 8th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Um, I got an email saying it’s back in stock, but it’s SOLD OUT on the website? What up?
January 14th, 2009 at 6:28 am
It’s a nice cup, only holds max 10oz, and I agree with some the chalk like exterior is a bit strange, it helps holding on to it but feels like chalk board. I am vowing to go more green this year, so I bought this. I do not wish to use any of those plastic tumblers from StarBucks or others I am afraid of leeching chemicals and BPA. Not a good idea. This cup is not as hot to hold my hot beverages as some of my steel mugs are. Ouch. I still think it’s a super cute cup. Thanks delight, love your ordering process, shipping, packaging, and everything. I LOVE DELIGHT! Thanks.
January 15th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
I just got mine and I absolutely love it! Everyone at my office thinks its super cool. Yea! It’s great to be hip and green at the same time.
January 30th, 2009 at 1:46 am
I agree…it drips and is very messy. Would not recommend!
January 30th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
I got one for Christmas (two, actually: one for me and one to gift) and love it. While I do appreciate the double wall for insulation, I still wish it held a bit more. My quibble is that the silicon lid got a tear in it in the first week. Is there any way for me to replace just that piece?
January 30th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Hi Maggi,
We’re sorry about your lid. If you email us at support@delight.com, we would be happy to help you out.

I got two of these as Christmas gifts and it’s a perfect size for me. I don’t want to drink a Venti or whatever the giant size of coffee is so this works well. My only complaint would be that one of them leaks occasionally - I only use it in my car so I just keep a paper towel close by. Much better than a paper cup and the weight has never been an issue.
February 5th, 2009 at 7:41 am
I had a problem with a leaky cup as well, but I emailed Delight, and they sent me a replacement lid, and now it works PERFECTLY! From what they told me it seems like there was a bad batch. I love this cup - and I love giving it as a gift.

if you’re worried about it being too hot & don’t want to use the paper sleeves provided at most coffee shops (though they are usually recyclable cardboard), I found & ordered this very cute bracelet/cup holder for one of my java-loving friends: http://www.veer.com/products/merchdetail.aspx?image=VPR0005640
*disclosure: I do not work for nor am I affiliated in any way with Veer. I just really like that cuff!
May 15th, 2009 at 11:42 am
I want to buy one of these - is the lid thing resolved yet? I really hate it when hot coffee leaks all over my hands on my morning commute.

Hi Abi,
The problem has been addressed and as always, if you have any issues, we will be happy to send you a replacement.

The above info. is confusing and contradictory. The most important piece of info is missing: How much does the cup hold? also, is it 100% drip-proof. The opening is very important to us caffine afficianandos. Dimensions and extra views would be very helpful. It is a good looking cup and I am interested but can not buy with such scant info. Please answer me direct asap as my need is pressing. thanks, Paul
p.s. I always wonder why people spend so much money advertising a product and do not include vital information with it?
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:54 pm
I think the cup looks great but the porcelain collects smudges easily (so if you’re reading a paper, ink on your fingers collect on the cup). Also, I’ve had a problem with a “smelly lid” and it doesn’t always grip the cup. Just when I thought I had the lid depressed as much as it could go, my coffee drips as I sip.
I still love the cup though.
December 6th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
I received one of these as a gift, bought from this site. I love the look of the mug, but have also had problems with the lid. It tore in the first few weeks and dribbles constantly. I also see a hair-line crack in the mug now and it’s become stained with coffee. Disappointing because I LOVE the look of the mug.
December 9th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Hi, I’m looking for a gift for my Dad. Even at home, he loves drinking coffee out of paper cups so he has the feel of a hot cup of coffee from the deli. Everything I read mentions how much it looks like a paper cup, but I’m not sure he’d be happy with it feeling so much like a heavy ceramic mug. Any thoughts?
December 31st, 2009 at 8:00 am
Love it! Got a few as Christmas gifts but kept one for myself. It’s got a bit of weight, but isn’t heavy. Holds just over a cup of coffee. It’s also perfect with the knit coffee sleeve my six-year-old picked up at a craft fair. I’m planning to pick up a few more as gifts throughout the year and knit a sleeve for each one.
February 4th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
I love the idea of this cup but its so shallow.
February 8th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
I managed to smash mine this morning in my university’s caf (less than a week old!), knocked it off the cash counter with my bag… silence as 100 fellow students turned to stare… I almost cried…! Not of embarassment but because I loved it so so much…
Would highly recommend a cozy of some sort. As I start a savings account (student budget) for my replacement perhaps I will start knitting…
February 8th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
ps— I saw some above comment asking about how much it holds. I have a Keurig coffee maker and I set it to 10 ounces and it fills it with just enough room for a bit of milk. Hope this helps.
