New Year’s Resolution #1: Ditch the Boob Tube, Re-Connect with Humans
Ever find yourself describing past events in your life, which somehow include the adventures of Ugly Betty, Mike’s antics at The Office, or the major upset dance-off on Dancing With The Stars? Do you feel a strange connection to the host of Survivor? Have you lost the muscle control in your arms to hold a book?
As this is our first January at Delight.com, we thought we’d dedicate the month to resolutions, harsh realities, and generally making a fresh start of things. Not that we regret the past year. Hardly. But it was a whirlwind, and admittedly, our bad habits sort of took on a life of their own.
Case in point: TV.
Now there are some really great shows on television these days. And you can bet Wednesday nights will assume their same dedicated regimen if and when LOST ever decides to grace us with more episodes (we can’t get enough of Jack’s on-demand crying). But, the writers are on strike, and frankly, there IS too much of a good thing.
In support of the writes who brought you The Office, LOST, Ugly Betty and the first season of Gray’s Anatomy, turn off the tube and do something involving the direct contact of another human. Like this fun game, for instance.
In college we couldn’t get enough of Magnetic Poetry. Many a drunken night was spent at the fridge out-witting friends with deep, or not so deep quips using magnets with words.
We’ve moved on from the chaotic fridge mess of Magnetic Poetry, but we still love the concept. Which is why this game is hilarious and fabulous.
Not only will you allow yourself to explore the English language using WORDS rather than emoticons and LOL’s, but you’ll also put your brain to the test and create some serious gaffaws with friends and family alike.
Who knows? With television off and music on, and games playing, you might just learn a thing or two about your couch buddy. Thus allowing you many more colorful events to describe which will in fact involve YOU doing SOMETHING. And not Rachel and Ross.
