RuMe Bags: Fall In NY
September 9th, 2008
In theory, we should like grocery shopping - all those choices, pretty produce, guilty pleasure gossip mags, in one place. Yet, between the too many people, bothersome easy listening that is being piped in, and the disturbing amount of plastic being needlessly used up and discarded…we get a little depressed.
Now, maybe we can’t stop them from playing Kenny G and we can’t make everyone disappear when we enter the store, but we can start a little revolution of our own against all the plastic. Now reusable grocery bags aren’t anything new; canvas totes and various polyester bags have been a around for awhile, giving people a Earth-friendly choice instead of those paper thin plastic bags offered for free at check out.
But what we’ve often wondered is how come these bags haven’t been perfected? The canvas totes don’t hold much and tend to be a little too granola for our tastes, and the other poly bags just don’t seemed to be shaped right to hope the optimum amount of groceries. The shape is too slack or the handles are too short – inevitably there is a shortcoming to all. And um. They’re all a bit ugly which means you aren’t so enthused to remember them everyday.
Well, that is until we discovered RuMe (roo-me).
With their super-cute name that stands for ReUse Me to their even more adorable patterns RuMe had us at first sight. Yet, as we mentioned we wanted the perfect bag, aesthetically pleasing and the height of utility. Utility is where RuMe really got us hooked, big enough to hold a five gallon container of water, but structured enough to hold just a few items and not crumple up in the back seat, these bags are tops!!
So make some room for RuMe in your purse, your car, a kitchen drawer, or anywhere else you need help carrying anything in a jiff!
About RuMe Bags:

These colors are my favorite. It’s great to get a well designed tote and in a lovely pattern. I’ve purchased the other sets as gifts but this will be my go-to style from now on!

RuMes are the hippest, chicest, and most functional sustainable bags, hands-down! I’m using these for stocking stuffers AND as wrapping paper — two gifts in one, no waste!

The reason I love these bags more than the other brands is the way they are constructed. They are like a grocery sack with the box-stitched bottom. I still carry my other bags with me but always pull out the RuMe bags at the check out counter because they hold so much more and when I put them in the back of my Van they stay upright so the groceries don’t spill all over the place by the time I get home! Just writing this out has made me realize I should just order another set and then, I’d have enough so I wouldn’t have to use the ones I don’t like. Besides, I’m sure I could find another use for them…not sure what but I’ll think of something!

I worked in a boutique in Denver for years and had first pick of the new arrival of handbags-I got lots and lots and lots of handbags. Yet the only thing I carry now are Rume bags. So stylish and so many designs. I want them all. I now base my outfits around my Rume bags.

I love these bags! I looked at a lot of different bags before I purchased and am so happy I went with RuMe. Each bag holds as much as two plastic grocery store bags or more, but they fold up so tiny. The box stitched shape is perfect for hoding a lot and keeping the bags from falling over in the car on the way home. They are very strong, the fabric is like an umbrella.
I keep them in my purse and use them everywhere I go. So great for to have on hand for places like Costco, the library, etc. where there are no bags. Plus, they are SO CUTE! Every checker & other shopper tells me how cute my bags are. I’m buying some more for gifts today!

Took one bag to the store yesterday for the 1st time and got so many questions about it. I carry mine open and load it up as I go down the aisles. Once it’s heavy enough for me I check out. I unload it on the counter and the sales gal loads it back up. So easy and pretty. Luckily your web site address is easy enough for people to remember I just say “delight.com!”
