Smencils! Smelly Pencils! Made From Recycled Newspaper!
December 31st, 1969
Some of our favorite things:
1. Julie Andrews (Okay, Neil Diamond was going to be first, but we’re going somewhere with this…)
2. The smell of white cake
3. Kittens (Not cats…)
4. Rootbeer
5. Children’ observations between the ages of 3 and 5
6. Newly sharpened pencils (c’mon, they’re heaven!)
7. Fingers stained by picking fresh raspberries
Despite our usual cynicism from day-to-day, we realized this list could go on and on. Maybe it’s the impending Holidays and we’re still in the honeymoon phase (you know, the time before you realize how much you have to do and everybody starts getting crabby), but we’re feeling pretty excited about life.
For lack of a proper English word, we’re feeling Smencil-tastic! Imagine opening up a pack of Smencils on a winter morning…
What’s a Smencil you ask? Well, imagine combining several of your favorite things into a perfectly adorable set of writing utensils. The fun of newly sharpened pencils combined with your favorite smells of childhood, berries, rootbeer, lemons, and more!
It might not be Neil Diamond, but get excited…SMENCILS ARE COMING!!!

Disgusting? NO WAY man - I’ve been buying and gifting these Smencils for months and I have yet to find one person who didn’t fall in love with them and think they were hilarious. STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

I love the idea of the recycled newspaper to create these but why all that extra plastic packaging to go with it? They sound cool though, may just have to try them in art class!

I think all of the plastic packaging defeats the purpose of the recycled newspaper…

I completely agree that the plastic packages REALLY defeat the purpose. whoever thinks that they are doing the planet a favor by trading a renewable resource like paper for plastic garbage that takes forever to “decompose” really needs to review their environmental awareness.
cool idea though, maybe make a newspaper paskage for them.

Absolutely would not recommend this item! first of all, they STINK. All pencils (regardless of description) smell exactly like some kind of low-end industrial cleaning product. second, it is not made clear that these are not colored pencils, just plain pencil lead. They stunk up my daughters room for weeks.

Ahhh…ladies! They’re SMENCILS! They are designed to smell! Whether I like them or not, my kids do and frankly, that’s all that matters to me! Besides, they are made out of recycled paper which is pretty fab as far as I’m concerned.

These are great…they still smell as good as they did 6 months ago when I got them. The pack is a good variety. As a college student, they keep me awake when I use them in class or with homework. Delight.com was great with their shipping time and I think the price is well worth it. Definitely buy these.
