When I was a girl, my mother often had tea for us in the afternoons. I love it. I loved sitting in the formal living room, china on a small table, with cookies or sandwiches. It was the perfect way to  fight away that gloomy 4:00 hour in the winter when everything gets extra cold, and dark.  In college I taught at a boarding school in Bath, England for a semester and the entire school stopped for tea at 4:00. It was perfect. Tea is always perfect, and frankly, it is a tradition we Americans could afford to instill. If only to walk away from our computers for 10 minutes to nibble a cookie and have a cuppa.
