Also Delightful:: iGoogle Artist Created Google Themes
May 13th, 2008
I just saw this on Cool Hunting and thought it was a pretty cool app for even the least techie of web surfers: iGoogle. Google has teamed with some great designers and artists to create custom themes you can add to your Google homepage. Get Google ’skins’ from artists like Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Eko, Ki-soo Kwan, Jeff Koons, Coldplay, Michael Graves, Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, Camila Engman, Robert Mankoff, The Beastie Boys, and Phillipe Stark to name a few. There is even a little bio about each person…you know, just so you’re more culturally aware.
Be sure to click the link that says "see more artist themes" to get all the themes…the main iGoogle page is a bit misleading as I originally thought the scroll bar offered all the choices.
After much deliberation between Tory Burch’s geographic patterns, Camilla Engman’s etheral illustrations and Marc Frauenfelder’s happy/creepy cartoons, I went with Herr Frauenfelder (see top image)…partly because I loved the bright cheery but wierd theme, and also because he co-founded Boing Boing - and for that he is one of my top internet heros. (Though I do love me some Tory Burch too…but for purely shoe-related reasons).
If you’re needing a diversion beyond reading our blog, go get yourself a pretty new google theme and tell me what you picked!
And - if you need another diversion, may I suggest setting up some Golf Darts in your cube or office. Many wasted hours are guaranteed to ensue!
Love,
Tracey
